Sow Community Development Corporation (Sow CDC) is a minority organized and operated 501(c)3 located on Chicago’s Westside. In the greater Chicago area, Sow CDC is working to implement a targeted approach to rebuilding the Black community one block at a time. Through our Block-by-Block Revitalization Initiative we will be able to strengthen communities by abating the housing issues of slum and blight created by vacant lots and abandoned properties.
As Americans, we are committed to ending homelessness among Veterans. We will not rest until all Veterans have access to permanent housing, employment opportunities and other services and supports.
The many housing solutions, supportive services, community employment programs and health care options available have a significant impact on homelessness among Veterans. However, no single entity or program can end and prevent homelessness among Veterans on its own.
At SOW CDC, we're committed to helping all Veterans, including those who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. Our Homeless Veterans Programs provide a wide range of services to help Veterans get back on their feet. We also partner with community organizations to make sure Veterans have the resources they need to succeed.
Collaborative community efforts are needed to address the many causes of homelessness and other challenges that lead to housing instability. SOW CDC and community-based allies can leverage VA resources and their own assets to expand Veterans’ access to affordable housing, meaningful employment, household items, transportation resources and other services.
Together, we can end and prevent homelessness among Veterans.
Planting Seeds Of Change in A Forgotten Community through Asset Based Community Development!
"The Poor You'll Have With You Always," but The Fulfillment of the American Dream Destroys Poverty. Opportunity is Now!
John Donne professed that “No man is an Island,” he spoke of humanity being interconnected, so that what affects the one affects the many, and as we abound the race abounds yet when we are afflicted the race is afflicted. Sow Community Development was founded with a charge of “Changing the Face of American Poverty!"
